What is NSFAS?
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a government entity that provides financial aid to eligible students who wish to study at public universities and TVET colleges in South Africa.
NSFAS provides comprehensive funding that covers:
- Registration and Tuition Fees
- Accommodation or Transport
- Meals
- Books and Learning Materials
Eligibility Criteria
Basic Requirements
- South African citizen
- SASSA grant recipients automatically qualify
- Combined household income not exceeding R350,000 per year
Academic Requirements
- Grade 9-12 learners and students studying at TVET colleges
- Accepted at a public university or TVET college
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress
Required Documents
Personal Documents
- Copy of your ID document
- Parent/Guardian ID documents
- Proof of residence
Financial Documents
- Proof of income (Pay slips or affidavit)
- SASSA letter (if applicable)
